If you've ever used the internet, you've probably encountered a 404 error page. A 404 error, as defined by lifewire, is an HTTP status code that indicates that the website's page you were trying to access could not be found on the server, even though the server can still be reached. The server is present, but the specific page that is displaying the error is not.

The message "Error 404" indicates that the webpage you are looking for cannot be found on the website. This offense occurs when a user clicks on an outdated (broken) link or when a URL is incorrectly typed in a web browser's address field. The same website shows a customized 404 error page that closely resembles other pages on the same website. Other websites merely display the web server's standard error message text, which typically begins with not found.

A 404 error, regardless of how it appears, indicates that the server is active and running while the webpage or the path to the webpage is invalid. Again, the question is why a 404 error is used rather than just a missing page error. The web server generates the error code 404 when it cannot find the web page it is looking for, and search engines are aware of this error code as a sign of a bad URL.

Hijacking:

 There are two type of hijacking 

1. control hijacking 

2. cyber hijacking 

1.  Control hijacking :-   A Control hijacking attack over writes some data structure in a victim program that effect its control flow and eventually hijacks the control of the program and possible the underline system. Attack like these eventually many ways for corrupting or over writing the data that the work storing. A data structure that can effect the control flow of a program is called a control sensitive data structure.

i.e which include return address, function pointer, global offset table / import table C++ virtual function  table pointer etc.                                                                                                                Once an attacker grabs control of the victim program, He can involve any operation to which the victim program effective used is intitled these attack are most dangerous type of attack because they exploit software bug directly without requiring any user action.

2.Cyber hijacking :-  It is type of network security attack in which the attacker takes control of computer system, software system and network communication. it is the example of airplane hijacking or criminals seizing control of transport vehicles, it is not always highly illegal. There are several different kind of cyber hijacking

1. Browser Hijacking :-  It is the tactic used by hackers / online advertising  to take control of a web browser. Here hijacking redirect web traffic. same time hacker hijack browsers to interest sensitive  information hijacker since has the capability to hijack the browser, used security fuses or victim walling downloads.
