Grand Theft Auto VI Delayed to November 2026; Developers Clarify Rumors and Engine Details

Fans eagerly awaiting GTA 6 will have to wait longer, as publisher Take-Two Interactive has officially confirmed another delay. The highly anticipated title is now scheduled to release on November 19, 2026, after previously being planned for May 2026 and earlier targeting a 2025 launch window.

In a statement, Rockstar Games said the additional development time is intended to ensure the game meets the high standards expected by players. The studio noted that the extra months will allow for further polishing and refinement, aiming to deliver a top-tier gaming experience.

Recent reports have also addressed ongoing speculation about the game’s technology. Earlier comments from former Rockstar audio designer Rob Carr suggested that the company may have rebuilt its Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (RAGE) entirely. However, according to journalist Zack Zwiezen, developers familiar with the project have clarified that the engine used in GTA 6 is an upgraded version of the technology seen in Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2, rather than a completely new system.

The report also dismissed a widely circulated rumor claiming that the delay was caused by issues with the game’s saving and loading system. The claim, which originated from an unreliable source and spread across social media, has been confirmed as false. Developers have stated that GTA 6 will include fully functional saving and loading features, consistent with previous entries in the franchise.

Set in the fictional state of Leonida and featuring a return to Vice City, the game continues to generate massive global interest. With Grand Theft Auto V having launched in 2013, the long development gap highlights Rockstar’s focus on creating a large-scale, cinematic open-world experience.

While the delay may disappoint some fans, it reflects the developer’s commitment to quality. At the same time, recent clarifications have helped dispel misinformation, reinforcing confidence that the game’s development is progressing as planned.
