Cricket fever has reached its peak as India prepares to face New Zealand in the T20 World Cup 2026 final. To help thousands of fans travel to the match, Indian Railways has announced a special train from New Delhi to Ahmedabad.
The highly anticipated final will be played on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium. This will be the second time India plays a World Cup final at this massive venue, which has a seating capacity of more than 132,000 spectators.
Special Train for Cricket Fans
Ahead of the blockbuster clash, Indian Railways arranged a special train from New Delhi to Sabarmati (Ahmedabad) to make travel easier for cricket supporters.
The announcement was made by Northern Railway through its official social media handle. The train departed on March 7 at 11:45 PM from New Delhi.
The special train includes 19 coaches with 2nd AC and 3rd AC classes, offering comfortable travel for fans. The decision was taken because flight tickets to Ahmedabad had become extremely expensive and difficult to find due to the huge demand for the final.
More Trains from Mumbai
Earlier, Western Railway also confirmed that another special train would operate between Mumbai and Ahmedabad on the day of the final. This move aims to provide affordable travel options for cricket enthusiasts across the country.
Massive Crowd Expected in Ahmedabad
The Narendra Modi Stadium is expected to be packed with passionate supporters for the grand finale of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
India reached the final after defeating England cricket team by seven runs in the semi-final, marking their second consecutive appearance in a T20 World Cup final. Meanwhile, New Zealand national cricket team secured their place in the final after beating South Africa national cricket team.
Star-Studded Closing Ceremony
Fans attending the final will also witness a spectacular entertainment show before the match begins. The closing ceremony will feature performances by global and Indian music stars including Ricky Martin, Falguni Pathak, and Sukhwinder Singh.
The International Cricket Council has organized the musical performances to entertain the huge crowd before the toss and add glamour to the tournament finale.
