Dipika Chikhlia Reacts Positively to Ramayana Teaser, Changes Earlier View

Actor Dipika Chikhlia, who is widely remembered for playing Sita in the classic TV show Ramayan, has shared her reaction to the teaser of the upcoming film Ramayana. While the project has been compared to the original TV series by Ramanand Sagar, Dipika’s latest response shows a noticeable change in her earlier opinion.

After watching the teaser, Dipika appreciated the scale and presentation of the film. She said the visuals look grand and well-crafted, adding that the overall look feels rich. She also mentioned that she is now looking forward to watching the film.

Earlier, Dipika had expressed concern about repeated adaptations of Ramayana. She believed that retelling the story again and again with new angles could affect its original essence. She had also criticized Adipurush for its treatment of the epic.

The original Ramayan TV series, which aired in the late 1980s, remains iconic even today. Along with Dipika, the show featured Arun Govil as Ram, Arvind Trivedi as Ravana, Sunil Lahri as Lakshman, and Dara Singh as Hanuman.

The new film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. It is directed by Nitesh Tiwari, produced by Namit Malhotra, and co-produced by Yash, with writing by Shridhar Raghavan.

The film’s music is being composed by Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman, while the visual effects are handled by DNEG, known for its work on major global films.

According to the makers, the project has been in development for nearly seven years. Director Nitesh Tiwari described the journey as long and challenging, expressing happiness at the positive response to the teaser.

The teaser offers a glimpse into key moments of the epic, although full character looks are yet to be revealed. The team has described the film as a passion project made with dedication and care.

Ramayana: Part 1 is scheduled to release in theatres during Diwali 2026, and part 2 release  in Diwali 2027.
