Klaasen, Bowlers Power SRH to Big Win as KKR Collapse

Sunrisers Hyderabad delivered a dominant all-round performance to register a convincing 65-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders in Match 6 of IPL 2026. A strong batting display followed by disciplined bowling ensured SRH secured their first win of the season in style.

Batting first, SRH posted a massive total of 226/8 — the highest score of the tournament so far. In response, KKR failed to keep up with the required run rate and were bowled out for 161 before completing their full quota of overs.

The innings got off to a blazing start with Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma taking control during the powerplay. The duo added 82 runs in just 34 balls, putting early pressure on KKR’s bowling attack. Head scored a quick 46 off 21 deliveries, while Abhishek contributed 48 from 21 balls. Their aggressive approach included a costly over against Varun Chakravarthy, from which 25 runs were scored.

However, SRH briefly lost momentum as they lost three wickets in quick succession, slipping to 118/4. At this stage, Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy stepped up to stabilize the innings. The pair stitched together a crucial 82-run partnership for the fifth wicket in 53 balls. Reddy made 39 off 24 balls, while Klaasen anchored the finish with a well-paced half-century, ensuring SRH crossed the 220-run mark.

Blessing Muzarabani was the standout bowler for KKR, picking up four wickets while conceding 41 runs, including key strikes in the final over.

Chasing a daunting target, KKR started aggressively with impact player Finn Allen smashing 28 runs off just 7 balls in the opening over. However, his dismissal in the second over slowed the momentum. Captain Ajinkya Rahane struggled for rhythm, managing only 8 runs off 10 deliveries.

Young Angkrish Raghuvanshi continued his impressive form, scoring a fighting 52 off 27 balls and registering his second consecutive fifty of the season. Despite a steady partnership with Rinku Singh, KKR kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Raghuvanshi’s run-out proved to be a turning point, after which SRH tightened their grip on the match.

Rinku Singh tried to keep the chase alive with 35 off 25 balls, but once he was dismissed, KKR’s hopes faded quickly. Late fireworks from Sunil Narine, who hit two sixes in a brief cameo, only reduced the margin of defeat.

SRH’s bowling unit delivered a collective effort. Jaydev Unadkat led the attack with three wickets, while Nitish Kumar Reddy and Eshan Malinga picked up two wickets each, ensuring there was no comeback for KKR.

Overall, it was a complete performance from Sunrisers Hyderabad, with both bat and ball clicking perfectly to seal a comprehensive victory.
