Oracle Layoffs in India: Around 12,000 Employees Affected, Another Round Expected Soon

U.S.-based technology giant Oracle has reportedly laid off approximately 12,000 employees in India on March 31, 2026, with sources indicating that a second round of layoffs may occur within the next month. Globally, the company has let go of around 30,000 staff as part of its ongoing restructuring efforts.

India houses roughly 30,000 Oracle employees, meaning a significant portion of the workforce has already been impacted. Two individuals affected by the layoffs, including one from the company’s HR department, confirmed the scale of the retrenchment.

Oracle has not officially commented on the layoffs. However, internal communications to employees cited organizational changes as the reason, stating that positions had become redundant due to operational streamlining.

Severance and Compensation

Employees who have completed at least a year of service are eligible for 15 days’ salary, along with one month of unpaid wages until their termination date, leave encashment, gratuity, and notice period pay. Additionally, the company is offering a two-month salary top-up for those who choose to resign voluntarily and amicably.

Employee Reactions

The layoffs have affected employees across different levels. Former Oracle employee Merugu Sridhar shared that he was previously let go in September after raising concerns over the company’s 16-hour work shifts in India.

The move comes amid Oracle’s broader global restructuring, which is reportedly focused on adapting to cloud and AI-driven technologies, signaling a shift in workforce priorities.
