Meta is taking a major step in expanding its subscription business. The company has announced the global rollout of new paid plans for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, while also revealing upcoming subscription options for creators, businesses, and Meta AI users.

Under the new offerings, users can subscribe to Instagram Plus ($3.99 per month), Facebook Plus ($3.99 per month), or WhatsApp Plus ($2.99 per month). These plans provide access to a variety of exclusive features, including enhanced profile customization, premium reactions, audience insights, and additional personalization tools.

According to Meta, these subscriptions are only the beginning, with more premium features expected to arrive in future updates.

Meta first hinted at its subscription strategy earlier this year when limited testing began in select markets. The company says the goal is to provide extra value for dedicated users while creating additional revenue sources beyond traditional advertising.

The Plus subscriptions are designed differently for each platform. Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus focus on social sharing, content creation, and audience engagement, while WhatsApp Plus emphasizes messaging customization and personalization.

Meta also clarified that these new subscriptions will exist alongside Meta Verified, which continues to offer identity verification, account protection, and customer support benefits.

Instagram Plus Features

Instagram Plus introduces several tools aimed at creators and active users. Subscribers can access advanced Story analytics, including the ability to view how many times their Stories were rewatched. Users can also create unlimited audience lists instead of being limited to the Close Friends feature.

Additional benefits include:

  • Story promotion once per week
  • Extended Story visibility beyond 24 hours
  • Anonymous Story previews
  • Searchable Story viewer lists
  • Posting to profiles without appearing in followers' feeds
  • Animated Super Heart reactions
  • Exclusive app icons
  • Custom profile fonts
  • Extra profile pins

These additions are intended to help users better understand their audience while providing more flexibility in how content is shared.

Facebook Plus offers a similar collection of premium features focused on engagement and profile customization.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp Plus delivers unique enhancements such as custom themes, personalized ringtones, additional pinned chats, premium sticker packs, and expanded chat organization tools.

Meta One: AI, Creator, and Business Subscriptions

Alongside the launch of Plus plans, Meta is preparing to test a broader subscription ecosystem under a new brand called Meta One.

For Meta AI users, the company will begin testing two premium plans:

Meta One Plus – $7.99/month

Meta One Premium – $19.99/month

Both plans will offer advanced AI capabilities, but the Premium version will provide greater computing resources for more demanding tasks. Subscribers will receive improved reasoning abilities, expanded image-generation features, and enhanced video-generation capabilities across Meta's platforms.

Meta AI will continue to be available free of charge for regular users, while premium plans will cater to those who require more powerful AI tools.

Initial testing of these AI subscriptions is scheduled to begin next month in Singapore, Guatemala, and Bolivia.

Plans for Creators and Businesses

Meta is also introducing professional subscription tests for creators and businesses in selected markets, including Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Thailand, and Bangladesh.

Meta One Essential – $14.99/month

This plan includes:

  • Verified badge
  • Protection against impersonation
  • Enhanced profile links
  • Improved online identity management

Meta One Advanced – $49.99/month

This premium tier adds:

  • Greater visibility in Facebook feeds
  • Higher placement in Facebook and Instagram search results
  • Enhanced Follow buttons on Reels
  • Automatic follow invitations for engaged users
  • Website and shop promotion tools
  • Advanced audience insights and analytics
  • Team management capabilities
  • Content attribution and protection features

Creators and businesses using the Advanced plan will also gain access to scheduling tools, account-sharing options for moderators, and notifications when others reuse their content.

Meta says it is still experimenting with these professional and AI-focused subscriptions but plans to eventually bring all paid offerings together under the Meta One brand. As the ecosystem grows, the company expects to continue expanding features and benefits across its apps.

The move highlights Meta's long-term strategy of building new revenue streams while providing users, creators, and businesses with premium tools that go beyond the traditional social media experience.
